What does Trump represent, to me?

Capitalism gone sour!

Once upon a time, a lady baked a wonderful couple of apple pies. But by the last half of the second pie, a week later, the pie was dried out and the apples were getting a bit spoiled. This pie has outlived its time, so now it should be tossed out.

Once upon a time, like for my roommate’s father. He came over on the Boat from 1910 Europe with only a few $$ in his pocket. He got off of the boat then took a train to New Jersey where he stayed at his Uncle’s home for a few years, working at odd jobs. He saved enough money to open a one-man tailor shop. He put three of his kids through college from that shop! He worked like 12 hours a day and often on Saturdays and part Sundays too. Once upon a time, many immigrants from Europe did just this, a small business, a tiny storefront.

The Epileptic support society had, maybe still has, a slogan, “If you work for yourself in your own business, you cannot be fired”! Even with meds, seizures can happen, then poof you are laid off or fired! To start a business of your own is their ticket for success.

One upon a time, these thousands of tiny factories and small-town shopkeepers had the “human touch”. The “bad actors” were there all right, but affecting only a few people.

Today the mega-corporations have lost touch with the “common man”. Even the public school systems love the “common core” system where every single student is on the same page of learning styles! There are few checks to keep these huge companies “moral”. Often they have their headquarters in Europe, far out of reach of anyone to relate with.

“Toxic Capitalism”, I think they call it.

Fish stink after three days. So here we are, with smelly fish such that we elect a president that seems to echo these values of the rotten fish!

It seems to be all about the money now. Stock value, 25,000 DOW but the workers are nearly slaves! Once workers were seen as the most valuable thing about a company. One could work for life at a factory or a large department store.

What to do?

What probably is needed, is that *we* need to change! Otherwise, we all might just soon elect another toxic capitalist! The president reflects the collective urges of the People! As long as we all put money as the highest value of all, this is what we get.

We all need to value Values. Ethics and morals should be uppermost. The customer comes first, the customer is always right!

We need to not believe that a group of rich spoiled kids are something to emulate, in our lives! They have it all but any time that I overhear their program, all that I hear is a long emotional teenage snit!

[my ex-roommate loved this program!]

Oh, I suppose we could revolt and then tear down these huge corporations, but unless WE change our collective values, other huge corporations will only grow to replace them!
